All apples and pears perform best with another variety nearby as a pollinator. Triploid varieties (marked after the variety name in the list) require two other varieties for pollination. For effective pollination the flowering time of these varieties should coincide. The pollination group number indicates an unusually attractive blossom. Varieties with the same number will pollinate each other but parents and progeny may not. Parentage is stated where known, e.g. Discovery [progeny] = Beauty of Bath x Worcester Pearmain [parentage] There is some overlap between adjacent numbers, and the crab apples will pollinate most other apples.
